Intellectual

Common perception is that Christians are not highly intellectual. Nothing could be further from the truth. The scientific method was extracted from the Bible and led to an explosion of scientific discovery parallel to the reformation. Following are some testimonies from people from an intellectual background.

Jennifer Fulwiler was raised in an intellectual family in which her father read her books by Carl Sagan on his lap as a young girl. She has a stack of Ivy League degrees and is married to an Ivy League husband with his own stack of Ivy League degrees, including a law degree and an MBA. She is probably the last person one might expect would become a person of faith. This is her story.

Holly Ordway was raised “culturally Christian”, but she never went to church, never had a Bible and didn’t know anything about Christianity. She read a lot as a child, including the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings. When she went to college, she became “indoctrinated” in “staunch atheism”. And, when she found out the Chronicles of Narnia were about Christ, she was angry at CS Lewis for “ruining a good story”. She was an atheist until she was 31, but her story takes a different turn along the way.

James Tour has been a visiting scholar at Harvard University. Has has spoken at every major university in the country. He has over 650 research publications. He was voted the R & D Magazine Scientist of the Year. He is a member of the National Academy of Inventors and the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. Has over 120 patents. He started 7 or 8 companies. He was voted one of the top 50 most influential minds in the world…. and he is a believer in Jesus Christ.

Archaeologist, Ted Wright, responded to an invitation to “receive the free gift of salvation” from God at the age of 9. He “wasn’t a drug addict or anything”, but (like all of us) Ted wasn’t perfect. He was a sinner, and he admits that he made a lot mistakes. Nonetheless, God began began to work in his life at that early age and continues to be faithful to work out in his life to conform it to God’s character. The stories in the Bible captivated him at an early age. From the Air Force, to college to Archaeologist, this is his story.
